this is great man! made the process of modding the game so much easier. if this is still an active project for you, there are a few feature suggestions i feel could add a lot of quality of life:

adding an offset function to allow users to offset the audio tracks (wether that be by time or beats im not sure, but it could save a lot of time in adjusting tacks to match up with the program)

adding measure numbers to the top of the track editor would also help for keeping track where the user is at in their song when score editing, similar to how a lot of DAWs use it.

hopefully that makes sense. anyhow, thank you so much for this awesome program! I've already successfully made a few songs, and as soon as i find a way to automate the button presses id love to submit a recording for your showcase (I'm not good enough at the game to play my own songs)

thanks again!

I'm glad you like it! Adding measure numbers sounds like a great idea. I'll look at implementing it in the next update (1.0.5).

I'm also going to research how to best implement an offset feature. BagleBug previously gave similar feedback about wanting to set the offset, so you're not alone in wanting that in Konga Beat. I don't know if I'll have a solution ready for 1.0.5, but I'd like to add it in the following update.

I can't commit to a specific date because of work and other personal obligations. That said, I aim to release 1.0.5 in about ~2 weeks. In the meantime, if you run into any other pain points, please don't hesitate to let me know!

And don't worry if you haven't been able to do a perfect run of your songs yet. I would still be happy to include them in the showcase. 😊

YOOOO!!! SOMEONE HAS DONE IT!!!

I remember trying to figure out how to do this a few years ago, but the midi part of it always is where I failed, especially getting it into DK2. I am glad to see someone else had a similar interest!!

THIS IS AMAZING, I hope it takes off!!!!!

Thank you!!!!!

Incredible, thank you!!!

One tiny nitpick is that the bongo sounds are swapped in the editor compared to the actual game.

Other than that, super easy to use the editor and export to the game!

EDIT: Thought I'd share a custom I made:

This is incredible!! Thank you so much for sharing this.

Edit: Would it be okay if I share this on the site with credit?

It would be an honor!

I just added the tracks to the new community showcase page. 😄

If you don't mind me asking, how has your experience been with Konga Beat? Is there anything KB could do to make creating tracks easier?

It's been great fun! No major issues that disrupt the flow of creating scores and no desyncs or crashes through normal use.

Here are a few issues that come to mind, from highest priority to lowest for me:

  • Yellow/Red notes can be perfectly stacked on top of each other which cannot be spotted in the editor but they turn into Pink notes in-game
  • Importing audio causes hotkeys to stop working until I restart KongaBeat
  • Metronome is off sync and unusable
  • Trying to import audio in a project using a DSP audio file (In my case it was September ripped directly from PAL DK1) makes KongaBeat freeze and become unresponsive

And some requests:

  • Save the segment setting between sessions, also more separating lines on the timeline between measures
  • Ability to adjust the song's offset in the editor; I don't know if "Offset" in the metadata will do what I want, so I've just been manually adjusting the audio in Audacity.
  • An (optional) ability to have all three solo difficulties on screen at once

Thank you again for making this! I'm enjoying it a ton and I look forward to seeing other people's creations!

Thank you for the write-up! This feedback is super helpful. I love the idea of having all three solo difficulties visible simultaneously.

Right now, I'm prototyping a launcher to make playing custom tracks in DK2 and 3 easier. Once I reach a good stopping point, I'll start tackling some of these bugs and requests. That said, if anything else come to mind, please let me know! 😊

I have waited so long for this
